About Mountain States Snowcats
25 Years in the Rockies. Still the Best at It.
Founded in 2001 by Jeremy Straley and now led by Jeremy and Mark Wallace, Mountain States Snowcats is a year-round heavy civil and snow management company with deep roots in Grand County and proven capacity across the Mountain West.
Built on two things most contractors treat as separate.
Jeremy Straley founded Mountain States Snowcats in Colorado in 2001 with a focus on two things that most contractors treat as separate: heavy civil excavation and snowcat operations.
The insight was simple. Mountain terrain demands year-round capability. Operators who work summer earthwork and winter snow don't just stay employed — they get better. They understand the same sites in both seasons. They know how water moves across a cut pad when it freezes.
More than two decades later, Jeremy is joined by Mark Wallace, whose 25+ years in business development and operations leadership bring expanded project reach and strategic depth to the company. Together they lead a crew of experienced operators, certified diesel mechanics, and project support staff who have chosen to build careers here.
Mountain States Snowcats now operates one of the largest private snowcat fleets in North America. We're headquartered at 72215 US Highway 40 in Tabernash, CO. Grand County is home. The Fraser Valley is our primary service territory. When big projects call us to Wyoming, Nebraska, or Kansas, we haul our own equipment and bring the same team.

Four things that separate us from other contractors.
We Own Our Iron
No subcontracting our core work. Our fleet is maintained by our mechanics, operated by our people, and ready to mobilize on your schedule.
Year-Round Retention
We've never laid off a seasonal worker. Our cross-season model means experienced operators and mechanics stay with us — year after year.
Mountain-Specific Experience
Twenty-five years in the Rockies means we understand elevation, access, weather windows, and Grand County's specific soil and drainage conditions.
